Grace Bible Institute

Grace Seminary of the Northwest and North Salem Baptist Church are pleased to offer a Lay Studies Opportunity that provides both undergraduate and graduate level instruction without the college/seminary-level obligations. Grace Bible Institute (GBI) is a lay institute of the Grace Seminary of the Northwest (GSNW). It serves to minister to adults in Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley who want to benefit from quality theological education but who do not desire or who are not in a position to afford the cost and work load of undergraduate and/or graduate school. The mission of GBI is to assist the local church in equipping adults who have believed in Jesus Christ for everlasting life and who are committed to the proclamation of the Gospel of God's free grace, to become men and women of sterling character, Bible knowledge and ministry skills. To that end GBI offers courses in Bible, theology, spiritual life and ministry skills, taught by GSNW faculty, upper level and graduate seminary students, and local church pastors from the area.

GBI courses generally run for five or ten consecutive Monday, Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings in the fall, winter, and spring quarters. Other one-day seminars are held on Saturdays during the school year. Classes meet in various churches throughout the Salem-Keizer area. GBI classes are designed for the individual with no prior specialized theological or biblical education (i.e., Seminary or Bible College), and are open to anyone college-age through Senior Citizen.

GBI is essentially an adult continuing education program which offers non-college-credit education unit credits (CEUs) in recognition of academic progress. One (1) CEU is awarded for every ten hours of class instruction and learning experience. Students of Grace Bible Institute may earn certificates based on the number of CEUs earned.
